CliftonStrengths: 7 Ways to Develop Belief Talent

In StrengthsFinder Themes, Talent Development by Rhonda Knight Boyle

Belief is one of the 34 CliftonStrengths talent themes. Only about 11% of people who have taken the assessment have Belief in their Top 5 report. Here are 7 ways to develop Belief talent and turn it into a strength!

1. Create a Personal Mission Statement

If you are dominant in the talent theme of Belief, you are guided by a sense of mission. Having a written statement of who you are can serve as a beacon, calling you to your highest self.

Live in purpose to develop Belief talent.

2. Find Purpose

You must have purpose in your life. Multiple purposes recommended. Pay attention to the purpose you assign to the things you do. Is it high work ethic? Is it faith based? Is it associated with family? You can develop your Belief talent with intention if you tie it to a purpose. Find places to serve that are aligned with your purpose and values.

3. Go for Alignment

You also have inner values that are at the core of you. You don’t waffle when it comes to certain beliefs and behaviors. If you find yourself out of integrity with your values or your beliefs, it will fester over time and cause problems. As you aim for alignment, you’ll find less disruption and more continuity in your life.

The more you give back, the more you develop your Belief talent.

4. Give Back

Find communities you can give back to and fulfill that need in you. Give back outside of your immediate community and you’ll meet more people who are like-minded and who have a similar calling you their lives.

5. Pay it Forward

It’s natural for you to pay it forward. You love the idea of doing good things while nobody’s looking! Do more of that. Enjoy the thrill of satisfaction knowing that you answered an “internal” calling. Doing random acts of kindness will thrill you!

6. Accept Others’ Beliefs

Strong and mature Belief allows for others to believe differently. Accept that others’ beliefs are their own. While they may believe differently, they likely have similar core values of integrity, honesty, and family values. Focus on what you have in common.

7. Gather Your Tribe

Meet often with your people — those who believe like you, whose values are similar, who can be trusted. Gathering with them frequently will allow your Belief to grow.
