CliftonStrengths: 7 Ways to Develop Achiever Talent

In StrengthsFinder Themes, Talent Development by Rhonda Knight Boyle

The CliftonStrengths assessment identifies natural talent and ability. More than 31% of people who take the assessment have Achiever in their Top 5 talent themes. If it’s in your Top 5, here are seven ways to develop Achiever talent:

1. Set Stretch Goals

As an Achiever, you don’t really need a lot of external motivation to be busy and productive. It’s what you already do naturally. Setting challenging stretch goals can help you develop your Achiever talent and become even more productive.

2. Keep Daily To-Do Lists

Your lists will keep you on track and give you a sense of satisfaction as you complete each task. Don’t keep those lists in your head! Keep them up in front of you at all times and you’ll start to develop better strategies for achieving.

3. Block High Productivity Hours

There are certain times of the day when you are more productive than others. Pay attention to when and schedule your most challenging tasks for those times. You’ll plough through them in no time!

4. Hang with High Achievers

Just face it: not everybody can achieve what you can (and just a reminder here: they are not slackers, they are gifted in other ways). To keep yourself out of the judgment zone when it comes to other people, hang out with others who are high achievers. You’ll recognize them by their work ethic because it’s a lot like yours.

5. Try New Ways to Track and Measure

Because you’re so focused on productivity, you’ll also be interested in discovering new ways to track and measure your achievements. There may be a lifehack or two out there that will make you more efficient and help you get more done!

6. Add the Personal

Chances are, your family sees you as a workaholic. Add personal goals around them and they’ll feel your attention and love you for it! Have a personal To-Do list that includes things like, “Pick up flowers,” or “Buy movie tickets.” You’ll have a sense of accomplishment and they’ll feel loved!

7. Celebrate Your Accomplishments

While you don’t often like to slow down long enough, it’s good to stop and celebrate. Identify specific accomplishments that you can take pride in and rejoice when you complete them! Allow others to celebrate with you!
